With authorization from the Business Office, faculty and staff can request a name change. This requires a rename on several different systems, often requiring the user to be completely logged off. A name change will affect the following systems:

  • Active Directory
  • Mimecast
  • Senior Systems
  • Finalsite
  • Google Apps
  • Blackboard Connect
  • Meraki

Active Directory
Rename the user's workstation login account.

Inside the AD schema, right-click the user and select Rename.

After entering the name change, the Rename User window will open and allow for additional changes. Be sure to double-check the user's General and Account properties to ensure that the changes applied.

Mimecast
Mimecast will detect changes made to AD.

Senior Systems
Rename the user in the Faculty/Staff section of the Registrar and then rename the user's Web ID inside System Administrator.

Inside the Registrar module, open the Faculty/Staff section and then open the user's record.

Make the necessary changes in the Name tab.

Inside System Administration, open the user's record inside the My Backpack User Maintenance section.

Change the User I.D.

Finalsite
Finalsite will detect changes made to Senior Systems. Please allow the changes to synchronize overnight.

Google Apps
Rename the user inside the Admin Console.

There are several ways to open the Rename User window. Either by entering the User control panel and searching the Organization group, or by simply using the search bar at the top. Click the Rename option once inside the account's properties.

Make the appropriate changes.

Blackboard Connect
Blackboard Connect will detect changes made to Senior Systems. Please allow the changes to synchronize overnight.

Meraki

Rename the user in the Owners section to update the device ownership notes. This will also update the email configuration on any managed iPads as long as they are set as the device owner and the config profile for emails is installed.
